Pizza - New Crust Recipe

I experimented with a different pizza crust recipe that my friend Faith shared with me. It's faster and thinner.
This is the dough: 1 cup of warm water, 1 tablespoon of yeast, 1 tablespoon of oil, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, and a little more than two cups of flour.
It rolls out as a lovely stretch dough. I did have to let it rest a bit to finish the rolling out. Sprinkle a peel with corn meal and put the toppings on the pizza.
Bake at 475 degrees until bubbly and browned. The recipe I followed offers this tip for making it easier to shake the pizza off the peel and onto the stone: pick up an edge of the dough and give it a puff of air underneath. I'm going to fiddle with this recipe some more. I think the dough needs more flavor.

Monte Cristo - Perfect

The Monte Cristo at Miss Tami's Tea Cottage in Meridian. Every version is different, and I've tasted some versions I would never eat again. But this one is perfect. The only flaw is that they don't serve it with a side of jam. You have to asked for the jam and they charge 25 cents for it. Never had a Monte Cristo? Don't be afraid, they're wonderful. Bread, turkey, ham and swiss cheese, dipped in a batter and fried. By the way, this is a half sandwich.

Favorite Sushi - the Lisa Roll

This is all I need for dinner. It's the Lisa Roll at Kyoto in Boise. It's a complicated blast of flavors.

Margarita Pie

I angled to get a photo before the first piece was cut...barely made it. This is the margarita pie I made for our 4th of July street party. Yummy. It did have quite a bit of booze in it, though, and it's not a cooked pie, so not for kids. The crust is crushed pretzels, sugar and butter.

Firecracker Shrimp

My first time grilling up firecracker shrimp and they'll be on the menu list again soon. I marinated thawed shrimp in a mixture of Siracha hot chili sauce, red pepper flakes, minced garlic, olive oil, lime juice and sugar. I would have liked to add honey, but I didn't have any. I made far too many, but they tasted just as good the next day as cold shrimp. I could even see chopping off the tails and tossing the cold, cooked shrimp into a salad.

Fourth of July Feast - Part One

I'll share Fourth of July Feast food over the next couple of days. We had a street party in our neighborhood that night. We shared food and drinks and fireworks. It was so much fun! First, we stuffed ourselves with stuffed mushrooms and stuffed jalapenos courtesy of Casey and Jena.
These jalapenos are excellent! It's crab stuffing. One of these "appetizers" is a meal.

Fresh Organic Veggies

Some of the goodies in my organic box delivery this week. I'll spiff up a Jamaican jerk chicken salad with some of this tonight, along with a side of steamed beets.
