Caprese Salad
All ready to assemble. Tomatoes and basil from the garden, along with fresh mozzarella. Layer the ingredients, then sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Drizzle with olive oil, balsamic vinegar - or Italian salad dressing. I know the salad dressing isn't traditional, but it's what we had and it was awesome.

L'Amore Dinner
I think this was the best meal I had while on a recent trip to the Phoenix area. Crab ravioli, shrimp scampi and asparagus. This was one of the specials the night we dined at L'Amore.
It's a family-owned restaurant and a local "regulars" place. Reasonably-priced food that is excellent. Above is the cioppino.Saturday, September 12, 2009
Caprese Salad
Another use for the bounty of fresh garden tomatoes: Caprese salad. Fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, basil (it came from the garden, too), and coarse sea salt. This salad is sometimes also drizzled with olive oil. Assemble and let it sit for 20 minutes or so for the salt to soak in and the basil to flavor everything.
