Strawberry Chicken Salad

Grilled chicken, strawberries, sliced apple and feta drizzled with a vinaigrette. This was a salad served at Goodwood in Meridian. Our friend who ordered said it was really good! It certainly gives me creative salad ideas.

A Regular Friday Night Haunt

A "regular" dining location for us last night: Goodwood. This is the chicken wrap, which is normally a favorite. But this time, the tortilla wasn't grilled enough, so the wrap became soggy and impossible to pick up and eat.

Burnt Ends Brisket "Kansas City" Style

A burnt ends brisket sandwich "Kansas City" style served up at Goodwood. It was tasty and a bit different than usual Boise brisket fare.

Tortilla Soup and Jalapeno Corn Muffin

A quick trip for dinner away from home...and disappointing. We went to Goodwood, which is normally one of our favorite places because it's dependable. I ordered a cup of "Mike's tortilla soup," which is hiding under the tortilla hats. Bland. It came with a Caesar salad that hadn't been properly tossed, so the dressing was in globs when it could be found.
This is the chicken salad. Very large breaded chicken strips on top of greens, corn, cucumbers, red peppers, red onion and tomatoes. My husband wished he had ordered his "usual" chicken sandwich. But in both photos, take a look at the corn muffin on the side. That was the best part! It's a jalapeno corn bread muffin served with honey butter.

Dinner at Goodwood

Dinner at Goodwood over the weekend. Look at those onion rings! They're served piping hot with a cool side of homemade ranch dressing for dipping.
My dinner was the Toss 'n Turn Chicken Salad. Very good. Everything I've ever ordered at Goodwood has been a home run.

Goodwood Barbecue - and I Order a Salad?

My lunch the other day at one of our regular restaurants - Goodwood, which is a barbecue place. This is a chicken Caesar salad with their BBQ chicken, which has a sweet sauce on it. It's a nice contrast to the tart Caesar dressing. The food is consistent and good, the place is kid-friendly, it's nearby, and the service is O-K - not as consistent as the food quality, though. Yes, they do ribs, but I don't order them very often because I don't usually feel like getting that messy. And there's really no way to eat them except get messy when doing it.
