We had some leftover homemade sausage gravy from our recent biscuits and gravy venture. I thought the gravy would be good on a big Idaho baker, but hash browns were good, too.
I cooked up a log of Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage, then whisked flour in milk and water and added to the sausage. Adding more milk and water as it simmered, and a little bit, I mean very little, of sage. I did more season adjusting and then added about 1 cup of maple syrup. That really is the trick. Make the gravy any way you want, but add the syrup at the end for a special wow.
Would you be willing to share the recipe?? It looks great!
